Been thinking of the 2009 award winning film “Phil
Greenspan,Activist”. Fran’s leading man needs a casting call. We get a very thinned down Ernest Borgnine, a very lightened up Daniel Day Lewis and Fran gets to check out Al Pacino wearing a brown beret.

Okay, these guys read their lines. Competition is strong for the part. We tell them Phil was a very direct but gentle guy. He was intuitively a “we,us” not an “I, me” guy.

Ernest, you are at a WESPAC meeting in White Plains. You bring facts, events, connections to share with the gathering. Strong, clear voice Ernest please.

Daniel, you are at a Veterans for Peace meeting at F.O.R in Nyack.Got the VFP cap on, Fran by your side.
Daniel, in this scene you are talking about a film series you arepresenting at the MLK Center in Spring Valley . Controversial issues, bold ideas, necessary films. Firm voice Daniel, no nonsense but with agenerous, collaborative manner.

Al, you are Phil at an anti-war rally in Peekskill, Washington, Route59 in Rockland County marching with Fran and others. Brown beret,
maybe an impeach Bush sign. Ego intact, it’s the message that needs validating not the messenger. Plain speaking, confident stride Al.

Competition is fierce. Who do we see holding up the Oscar in 2009 with Fran smiling in the audience?
